Most memorable musical experience:
I’ve been lucky enough to solo with SSJ and its predecessors several times, and for two of those my husband, conductor Mitchell Sardou Klein, has been on the podium! That’s an experience few can have. I also particularly treasure the time I backed up Frank Sinatra.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing:
My parents thought I’d be a lawyer because I argued so much, but I never really wanted to do anything other than music. If I had to, I’d probably be either a librarian or a physical therapist.
Hobbies:
I love puzzles, and do the NY Times crossword online every day. I had an uninterrupted streak of 2200+ days of solving correctly, which I gave up to honor the NYT Tech Guild’s digital picket line. Streak’s back up to 121 as of this writing.
Favorite vacation spot:
Anywhere at the seashore
What three things can always be found in your refrigerator:
Salted butter, Dijon mustard, and sriracha.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be:
Most of what seemed like a dire emergency at the time… wasn’t.
Do you have a “bucket list” piece of orchestral music that you have yet to play:
There’s a ton of music by women composers, both living and historic, that I’m hoping to encounter!
