Most memorable musical experience:
Singing. As a very small child and ever since. I remember my college choir days very fondly. The conductor was the first truly inspiring artist I had ever encountered. We performed wonderful music, from Bach to Poulenc’s Four Motets for Lent.
We toured, recorded, bonded. I taught children’s choirs for 17 years and still sing in a choir.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing:
A career in animal welfare.
Hobbies:
Reading; traveling and learning about history; following world news, politics and sports; bingeing junk TV; playing my saxophones just for fun; bike riding, cross exercising, and running with my Papillon pups!
Favorite vacation spot:
The next foreign country I’ll visit. I’ve been to about 30. Only 165 or so to go…
What three things can always be found in your refrigerator:
Air, water, 70% cacao chocolate.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be:
Have a spiritual practice.
